THE WINE
Gernot Langes is Bodega Norton's flagship homage to its visionary founder. Sourced entirely from high-altitude Uco Valley vineyards, it blends Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon to unite depth, perfume and backbone. Long, gentle vinifications with indigenous yeasts precede élevage in French oak and extended bottle aging, crafting a wine of polish, tension and detail. Elegant rather than massive, it is designed for collectors seeking a refined Argentine red with true aging potential.
VARIETAL COMPOSITION
Malbec 50%, Cabernet Franc 40%, Cabernet Sauvignon 10%.
VINEYARD NOTES
Fruit hails from Uco Valley subzones: Malbec from Gualtallary, Cabernet Franc from Altamira, and Cabernet Sauvignon from Los Árboles. These high, cool sites of stony, calcareous soils deliver small berries, natural acidity and aromatic precision. Grapes ferment with native yeasts in used rolling barrels; macerations are long but gentle to preserve finesse. Ageing continues in French oak, then in bottle, aligning texture and complexity. The low-yielding parcels spotlight altitude, soil energy and elegance.
TASTING NOTES
Deep ruby. Aromas of black raspberry and plum unfold with violet, graphite, tobacco leaf and cocoa. The palate is poised and layered rather than heavy, delivering blue-black fruit over fine, chalk-edged tannins and lively acidity. Hints of cedar, bay and espresso add savory detail. The finish is long, cool and mineral, echoing dark fruit and spice. Decant for aeration; pair with grilled beef, herb-rubbed lamb or aged hard cheeses. A graceful, cellar-worthy blend from a standout cool vintage.
