THE WINE
Quinta da Corte Grande Reserva is a sophisticated expression of Douro's finest old vines, blending 70% Touriga Franca and 30% Touriga Nacional. This wine exemplifies traditional winemaking with modern precision, aged 12 months in oak casks (15% new) to achieve harmony between fruit and structure. The challenging 2016 vintage, marked by cool temperatures and spring rains, ultimately yielded grapes with excellent phenolic ripeness thanks to a late harvest. With 14.5% alcohol and vibrant minerality, it offers both immediate appeal and aging potential up to 10 years, showcasing the elegance and depth of schist terroir.

VINEYARD NOTES
Sourced from 60-year-old vines planted on steep schist terraces in the Douro Valley, this wine reflects the resilience of low-yielding old vines. The terraced vineyards ensure optimal sun exposure and drainage, while the schist soils impart distinctive mineral complexity. The 2016 growing season was challenging, with slow ripening due to cool weather and rain, but extended hang time in August and September allowed full flavor development. Sustainable practices preserve the integrity of these historic vineyards.
TASTING NOTES
This wine presents a deep ruby color with aromas of fresh red and black berries, black currant, and subtle licorice. The palate is full-bodied yet refined, with polished tannins and a sleek texture that carries flavors of ripe plum, dark cherry, and schist-driven minerality. The finish is long and elegant, with lingering notes of spice and a touch of vanilla from oak aging. Balanced acidity ensures freshness, making it a versatile partner for roasted meats or hearty stews.
