Touriga France, Touriga Nacional, and a touch of Alicante Bouschet. Great aromatic purity right from the first impact, with crisp fresh fruit like cherry and blueberry, a lovely floral touch. Lots of juiciness on the palate, resulting in a dynamic, fresh, and highly gastronomic wine, with well-present tannins and a mineral touch on a finish.
The Vilarica Valley was formed by the parting of the Iberian tectonic plates, creating a flat basin flanked by granite escarpments. In contrast with most of the Douro, the Ataide soil consists of loam and schist, with neutral Ph and the vineyard is drier and hotter than most of the rest of the valley. As a result, the Quinta benefits from unique conditions for viticulture and a terroir not found elsewhere in the Douro region.
Floral aromas, notably of roses (reflecting the important Touriga Nacional component), as well as resin and pine needle notes, which give the wine a balsamic fragrance.
