VINEYARD NOTES
Bin 389 sources fruit from South Australia's premium regions: Padthaway, McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley, Coonawarra, and Wrattonbully. Blending across these diverse terroirs- ranging from cool-climate clarity to warm, opulent fruit-imbues the wine with both structural tension and lush depth. This multi-regional approach, rooted in penfolds' strict varietal selection standards and winemaking heritage, ensures consistency and elevates the hallmark richness and cellar-worthy nature of the Bin 389 label.
TASTING NOTES
Deep garnet in hue, the nose unfolds layers of sweet American oak, baking spices, chocolate, blueberry, violet, blackberry, and savory herbs. On the palate, sleek tannins, graphite, black tea, liquorice, and resin anchor plush, chewy black fruit. Flavors of spiced plum, dark chocolate, olive, nutmeg, and Black Forest cake round out a dense, succulent profile. The mid-palate is creamy yet focused, with seamless oak integration and remarkably long length-impeccably balanced and built for decades of graceful aging.
